Fred Collopy is an associate professor of information systems in the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He received his PhD in decisions sciences from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. He has done extensive research in forecasting, including the development of Rule-Based Forecasting. He has also published on objective setting in organizations, time perception, and visual programming. 

He is a member of the editorial boards of the International Journal of Forecasting (IJF) and of Accounting, Management and Information Technologies (AMIT). His research has been published in leading academic and practitioner journals including Management Science, Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Forecasting, Chief Executive, and Interfaces.

He spent 1998-99 at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center conducting research on visual language design and interactive computer graphics.
