Michael Lawrence is Professor of Information Systems in the Commerce and Economics Faculty at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Before joining the University he worked for Ciba-Geigy Corporation and Corning Glass Works in the USA. He has held visiting positions at Insead, France; London Business School and Imperial College, London; and Lancaster University, England.

He is currently President of the International Institute of Forecasters, the major professional and academic body committed to improving the state of the art of forecasting. He has a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in Operations Research. His research interests are in forecasting and more broadly in supporting decision making where a significant component of the decision involves management judgment.
