Marcus O'Connor is a Professor of Information Systems at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He is primarily interested in the role of judgment in forecasting and decision making. He is also interested in the way that people use information that they acquire in the forecasting and decision making processes. He has published in numerous journals including Management Science, International Journal of Forecasting, and Organizational Behavior & Human Decision Processes. He is an associate editor of the International Journal of Forecasting.

His interest in forecasting was initially stimulated whilst sitting on his surfboard as he was trying to predict the size of the next "set" of waves. Since that time his ability to predict wave heights has not improved, but his publication count has.
